Werk…like a MOTHA (pt.2Entrepreneurship)
Robyn
One thing about ittttt….my girl WERKS! Robyn has been one of my closest friends (read best friend) since middle school. She is legit my only friend who knew since 10th grade, what she wanted to do and did exactly that. A Del State graduate, turned CSI, turned Biology teacher and now her and her husband,Terry own My Fab Florals and The Flor Space Venue in the DFW area. Mind you, along the way she also launched BeMore Curly and a Youtbe channel. When my girl sets her sights on something issa wrap. I honestly don’t think I realized how hard Robyn works until we became mothers. For part 2 of Werk like a MOTHA, we talked about her unexpected journey into the space of entrepreneurship.
Death and Life- Okay so here’s the thing, Robyn never set out to be an entrepreneur. It just happened (and I know because I was literally there when it happened), because HOW do you get a client at YOUR wedding reception?! She reflects on what the transition from CSI to CEO has been like.
Balancing Act- Ok so MFF was born around December 2019, right after Robyn got engaged. At the beginning, she would wait for clients to find her. Now she’s knocking their doors down. Sis is on the GO with bridal shows, weddings, events, and interviews. And let’s not forget she is a wife and a mother. The obvious question is how the freak do you balance it all? At some point, something has to give. One thing will have to be put down so that you can juggle all the others, right? Chile I don’t know how but Robyn has found a way to try and not drop anything while both her child and her business are in their early years. Now, be clear sis, this is NOT about being superwoman/supermom…it’s captured in one word GRACE.
Lessons and leading- This year has been her year to take the leap of faith but this journey, like every journey, didn’t come without lessons. Because I like ya’ll and I wanna save you from having to learn by trial I got Robyn to give some advice. Take heed to what she felt like she wished she knew or had before taking the plunge.
Necessities and Relationships- Honeslty, this clip is just a indicator that we are allll really just doing our best and what we all need is support and community. I asked her what she felt she needed to keep going on this journey and it turned into a reminder that life really be lifing for us.
LIKE A MOTHA- Robyn’s definition of what it means to Werk…like a CEO MOTHA.
It’s wild, Rho is really my childhood friend. I’ve watched her through so many transitions. From running the halls together to watching her blossom (floral pun intended) into the woman God predestined for her to be, I am in awe! I told her during this conversation how much she inspires me and I don’t think I will ever have enough words to say how proud I am of who she is and what she is doing. My twin WERKS LIKE A MOTHA! One thing I got from this is how she doesn’t abandon one part of who she is for another. She has found a way to make them all work in tandem. That should be our goal. To find the ever-changing rhythm of our lives and to go after our dreams, even if they change. I’d love to hear how Robyn’s story impacted you, leave a comment below. Until then…
I love you, mean it- Ja’Nelle
